Biography
Sarah Sangeetha, born and raised in Switzerland, is a professional dancer trained in Bharatanatyam, Western Contemporary Dance, Ballet and Martial Arts.
Started her training in Bharatanatyam at the age of 6, Sarah gave her Debut (Arangetram) in 2009 under the guidance of Vid. D. Keshava in Zurich, Switzerland.
During several years of intense studies in India, Sarah completed her Master of Arts in Bharatanatyam at KSGH Music and Performing Arts University Mysore, followed by Nrityasali, post graduate studies of Natyashastra and its Karanas under the guidance of Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam in Chennai.
Furthermore, Sarah refined her skills under the guidance of excellent artists like Smt. Indira Kadambi, Sri Bhagavatulu Seetharam Sharma and Renjith & Vijna.
Holding a Bachelor of Arts diploma in Music and Movement of Music University Zurich, Sarah had intense training in Western Classical Music and Composing, as well as in various genres of Contemporary Dance (Laban, Graham, Contact Impro, Limon).
Over decades, Sarah has been also trained in the martial artform Kalaripayattu and danceforms like Jazz, HipHop, Salsa, Lindyhop and Folklore.
Since 2015, Sarah is a member of UNESCO and the International Dance Council CID.
Since 2017, Sarah is running her own dance school Sangeetha for Bharatanatyam/Bharatanrityam in Zurich, Switzerland, where she trains students on ground and online, conducts workshops and organises performances.
Sarah is also member of the Executive Committee of Swiss Natya Sabha, an association founded in 2020 in order to promote Indian performing arts in Switzerland.
